Clifford E. Gallop
Cliff was born in North Sydney in 1927, the son of the late Henry and Rita (Annesty) Gallop. Cliff was a longtime resident of Sydney Mines until the last three years where he resided at the Cove Guest Home in Sydney. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Canadian Army. Cliff was employed as an Electrical Engineer with CN Marine and then later with Marine Atlantic until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #19, North Sydney, was a Past Master of the Royal Albert Masonic Lodge #19, the Philae Temple Cape Breton Shriners, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Cape Breton Lodge Perfection, the Isle Royal Chapter of Rose Croix and a 32nd. Degree Member of the Ancient Scottish Right and also a member of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Seaview Golf Club, North Sydney. Cliff was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Thomes) Gallop, Sydney Mines, his five children, Lynn (George) Best, Alberta, Gary (Catherine) Gallop, Labrador, Norma (Robert) Edwards, Cole Harbour, Sheila (Richard) Dooley, Dartmouth, Lori (John) Robichaud, Brookfield, his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by six brothers Ben, Harry, Melvin, Everett, Raymond, George, three sisters Millie, Ada and Margaret.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cove Guest Home, Sydney, or Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines.
