Winston E. Hodder

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Winston Ernest Hodder, regret to announce his passing on Wednesday February 17, 2010 at the Northside General Hospital, with his loving family at his side, following a long battle with liver disease.

Born in Burin, Newfoundland, February 14, 1970, he was the son of Levi and Elizabeth (Mayo) Hodder of North Sydney. Winston will be remembered as someone who loved to walk, to umpire and play baseball, being a member of the Northern Yacht Club, to read Stephen King novels and most of all he was a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Winston is survived by his sisters Paula (Vaughn), Sydney Mines, Valerie (Blair), Ross Ferry, Diane (David), North Sydney and his brother Colin (Allison), Calgary, his nieces Kathleen and Meagan, both of Calgary, Brooke, North Sydney, nephews Colin Jr. and Kurt, both of Calgary, Kenneth of Alberta, his paternal grandmother Alice Hodder and a large extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins, who are left to mourn his passing.

He was predeceased by nieces Morgan and Skye, and by a nephew Hogan.

Visitation for Winston will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A service to celebrate Winston’s life will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Online condolences may be sent to info@wjdooley.com .
