It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Sheila Marie Green, age 62, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, formerly Napoleon Street, North Sydney, on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines, Sheila was a daughter of the late James Henry and Anna (Walker) Finney. She was an accomplished poet having written and published a children’s book of poetry, “God & Me”. Sheila was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her four children and nine grandchildren. Sheila was a member of St, Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
Sheila is survived by her husband Donald Green, her two daughters Kelly Green (Duane), Sydney Mines, Dana (Matthew) MacNeil, Halifax, two sons Scott (Monique) Green, North Sydney, Jason (Kelly) Green, Medicine Hat, Alberta, nine grandchildren Vanessa, Samantha, Jazlyn, Emily, Chole, Malcolm, Darren, Liam and Tegan . her brothers Donald (Sheila) Finney, Sydney Mines, Neil (Anita) Finney, Groves Point, her sister Shirley (Gordon) Haggett, Sydney Mines, sister in law Jean Finney, Sydney Mines, also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Sheila was predeceased by her parents and her brother Leonard Finney.
No visitation by request. The funeral service for Sheila Green will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines. Memorial donations may be made the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com .
