Mary Ann Buffett   91
Baddeck/North Sydney

We, the loving family of Mary Ann Buffett (Morrison), are so very sad to announce her passing on Monday, August 20, 2012, in Baddeck where she resided for the last 13 years.  Mary was a lifelong resident of North Sydney until 1999 when she and her husband Archie moved to Baddeck with their loving daughter and son-in-law Rhyburn, to live out their remaining years.  She died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Annabelle (Dunphy) Morrison.
Mary was very active in the North Sydney community, a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 19 and the Ladies Auxiliary.  She spent many years catering for the North Sydney Rotary Club and also was a member with the Senior Citizens & Pensioners Club.  In her spare time, she enjoyed playing darts and of course her beloved bingo.  Mary was well loved by many and had endless love to spare for her huge network of family, friends and pets, namely Midge, Max, Buffy and a long line of Joe’s.  Not a Christmas passed that she didn’t make or supervise the making of her famous plum puddings for friends and family far and wide.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney and recently a member of St. Michael Church in Baddeck.
Mary is survived by her children Ann Harrietha (Mick), Peggy Fournier, Sharon Matthews (Richard), Glorene McCran (Bob), Bonny Egan (Richard), Debby Shaw (Rhyburn), Cathy Wall (Jimmy), also surviving are her 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, her son-in-law Harold Brown, and also her sister Kathleen (Lala) Cox, Glace Bay.
She was predeceased by her soulmate and husband A.W. “Archie” Buffett, her daughter Valbert Brown, her son John Archibald William “Skippy” Buffett in 2000, her brothers Bill, Michael and Patrick in infancy and sisters Ann, Florence, Betty, Mary Mildred in infancy and also her close friend and sister-in-law Muriel (Moo) Morrison.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Funeral mass to be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating.  Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.  Reception to follow at the Branch 19, Royal Canadian Legion, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Comfort Fund.  Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.

The Last Journey
The time has come for a loved one
to take that long journey.
A journey of great distance
A journey of great sorrow and joy
A journey we will all take in time
Sorrow,
Because they have been taken from
us and left loved ones behind.
Joy,
For they will soon be with
the Great Spirit and walk with him...

We were sad to hear about your lost, You and your mother are in our prayers...
