Arthur Showler North Sydney It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Art Showler. He fought a quick and difficult battle with cancer at the age of 69. Art is leaving his loving wife, Lorie of 43 years and son, Paul. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn, sister, Theresa, brothers, Mark (Terri) and Tim. He was brother-in-law to Brenda and David (Helga). He leaves behind countless wonderful friends across the entire country. Art was born May 24, 1954 and grew up in Brantford Ontario. He and Lorie moved to Calgary in 1981 where they lived and worked for over 30 years. Art had a passion for coaching lacrosse and hockey. He always took such an interest in the growth and development of each player that he met. Art also loved running. He completed dozens of marathons and raced in numerous Iron Man Canada Triathlons. Art and Lorie moved to North Sydney, Cape Breton two years ago to enjoy their retirement. They have been blessed with new friends, music and wonderful neighbours. He was predeceased by his father Gordon Showler and sister-in-law Heather. His family would like to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Regional and Northside General Hospitals for their compassionate care. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Art's name to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J.
