It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Arthur Bishop, age 67, beloved brother, uncle and friend, on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, following a long illness.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, on June 11, 1952, he was the son of the late Albert and Lillian (Pardy) Bishop. Albert was employed with H.B. Nickerson & Sons, later the Public Works Department of the Town of North Sydney until his retirement at an early age due to his illness. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. He enjoyed the outdoors spending time hunting and fishing, also playing his guitar. He was very good in helping his family in many ways and will greatly missed.

Surviving are his brothers and sister; Ernest “Nick” Bishop, Ken (Mary) Bishop, both of North Sydney, Marilyn Bishop (Frank Musgrave), Shenacadie, Wayne Bishop, Blair Bishop (Valerie Hodder), both of Ross Ferry, also by a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by brothers Donald and Joseph.

The family would like to thank the VON, Northside Visiting Homemakers, the staff of Northside Community Guest Home, doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the exceptional care given to Albert during his long illness.

By request there will be no visitation. A graveside committal service will be held 11:00 a.m. on      Monday, June 17, 2019 at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
