Alden Kenneth MacLeod
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and friend, Alden K. MacLeod, age 75, on Saturday June 22, 2019 at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, where he had been a resident for the past year.
Born in North Sydney on April 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Gordon A. and Gertrude (Moore) MacLeod. Alden had been employed as an electrician with the IBEW local 1852 for many years and was well known as a Returning Officer for many elections in the Cape Breton County area. He was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in North Sydney. Alden enjoyed long drives, picking blueberries, hunting & fishing and going to Peter's Field for metal detecting to add to his love for coin collecting.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy MacLeod (Jeff Fader), Wellington, NS; his son Paul (Christine) MacLeod, Waterloo, ON, three grandchildren, Sydney, Calista and Jessica and companion Maria Trudell, Montreal
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Gordon MacLeod and his step-father, Horace Reid.
Visitation for Alden will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with funeral service to follow immediately in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Calvin United Church Cemetery, Upper Leitches Creek.
