Alexander Robinson Obituary

Alexander Robinson

North Sydney

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother, uncle and friend, Alex Robinson, age 67, on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on January 20, 1952, he was the son of the late Fredell and Ethel (Hatcher) Robinson.

Alex worked for many years first as a painter alongside his father and later, in Ontario for many years before moving back home to North Sydney. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, playing his guitar, watching his beloved Chicago Blackhawks and was an associate member of Branch #19 Royal Canadian Legion North Sydney.

After a recent illness, Alex became a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney.

Alex is survived by his five siblings, Walter (Cathy), North Sydney, Joe (Diana), Cleveland, Ohio, Cora (Ron) Shaw, Bras d’Or, Naomi (Lawrence) Boutilier and Janie (Roger Quirk), both of North Sydney. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his life-long friends, Dave (Holly) Williams, North Sydney.

Besides his parents, Alex was predeceased by six brothers, Fred, Leo, Clayton, Jackie, Danny, Ronnie; sister Bonnie and his niece, Andrea.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sister Cora, she was Alex’s angel on earth, Alex’s niece, April, for her constant care and love the last week of his life. To the many friendly staff members of the Northside Guest Home who took such great care of Alex over the years especially, nurses, Kelly and Mary-Lynn and his angels, Dena, Brenda, Tanya, Stacy and all the staff of Joseph Hall and Munro Place. Also to Dr. Mike MacDonald and staff of ER at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surgeon Dr. Butler and Dr. Stone for their dedication and compassion, IMCU and their amazing staff, CCU and their incredible staff, ICU and the very professional staff there, thank you for the outstanding medical care that Alex was given.
