With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend, Catherine “Cathy” Larade on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 13, 1950 in North Sydney, she was the daughter of Winnie (Gillam) Greene and the late Charles “Sonny” Greene.

Cathy had a fulfilling career as an educator. Having graduated from Thompson High School, she enrolled in and graduated from Teachers College in Truro.  While attending NSTC she served as Residence Assistant and in her last year was the Assistant Dean of Residence. She began her teaching career spending two years in Fall River, before settling in North Sydney at Seton Elementary School where she would spend the rest of her career, retiring in 2005.

Cathy enjoyed being active in her church. In younger years with the Youth Group at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney and later with St. Aidan Church in Westmount as a Sunday school director and serving with the Altar Guild. She was also an active member of the Westmount Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Cathy is survived by her mother Winnie Greene, North Sydney, by her devoted husband Joe, her two loving daughters, Mary Charlotte Larade of Westmount and Carol Ann (Sandy) O’Neil of Grand Prairie AB; three brothers, Michael (Barbara) Greene, Harve Boucher, NS, David (Andrea) Greene, Dartmouth, Charles (Susan) Greene, Ottawa; her sisters-in-law, Ann Larade (Alex Stamper), North Sydney, Julia Rose, Sydney; two brothers-in-law, Conrad (Pauline) Larade, Coxheath, Francis (Barbara) Larade, Westmount and by several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are the "Tuesday Night" special family friends, Nancy, Sharon, Georgette, Marlene and Arthena.

Besides her father Sonny Greene, she was predeceased by Father and Mother-in-law, Joe and Dorothy (Tell) Larade

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Joseph Hall of the Northside Community Guest Home and Dr. Peter Poulos for the love and care shown to Cathy over the past number of years.

Visitation for Cathy will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Haven Cemetery, Sydney at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Northside Guest Home or charity closest to your heart.
