Classie Parsons Obituary

Classie Parsons

North Sydney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Classie Parsons, age 94, on Monday, November 18, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Ramea, Newfoundland on October 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Irene (Poole) McDonald.  In her earlier years Classie worked for a short time at CN Marine and the Amherst Hospital and then for several years with H.B. Nickerson & Sons and later National Sea Products in North Sydney. She had been an active member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney, having been involved in the ACW, Altar Guild and the Married Couples Association.  Classie was an avid camper and spent many enjoyable summers in New Campbellton, Ben Eoin and Humes River.

She will always be remembered for her love of family, especially family gatherings, travelling and dancing.

She is survived by her three children, Calvin (Angela) Keeping, Alex (Shirley) Keeping, Irene (Roy) Iannetti; her sister Doris Rossiter; her grandchildren Kim, Denise, Rachel and Mike; her great-grandchildren Jeff, Rebecca, Brittany, Kristen, Riley, Jaylynn, Ella, Gemma and her great-great-granddaughter Capri.  Also surviving is her step-daughter Jane (Dan) Vernon, stepdaughter-in-law Judy (Bob) Whitman; step-grandchildren Allison, Chris, Adam, Kent, Samantha, Sally; her step-great-grandchildren Kendra, Nathan,  Elizabeth, Tate, Jesse, Aaron, Neala, Gabriel and step great-great-grandson Carter.

Besides her parents Classie was predeceased by her first husband Wilfred Keeping, her second husband Cecil Parsons, her grandson Norman Keeping, brother-in-law Stan Rossiter and step-son Marty Parsons.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Bill MacDonald for his wonderful care and many visits to Classie over the years and to the Northside Homemakers and the Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Classie will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
