It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Mary (Keigan) Devoe, age 63, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Monday May 27, 2019 at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney on September 30, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Lillian (Pearcey) Keigan. Edna devoted her whole life to her family and loved her grandchildren dearly, they were her pride and joy.
Left to mourn are her husband of 40 years, Sherman, her children Clayton (Katie), Ernie and Bradley, she also leaves behind her 5 grandchildren Ashlynn, Tristan, Zachary, Jordyn and Alexis; also surviving are her sisters Edie (Bill) Bonar, Millville, Lucy (Felix) Smith, Wagmatcook, Jean Keigan (Chuck), North Sydney, Cathy (Scott) Leamon, Sydney Mines, her brothers Bill (Rachel), Sydney Mines, Jerry (Brenda), Ontario Tom (Emily), Sydney Mines, Dave (Helen), Ontario, Lenny (Angela), Sydney Mines, also her mother-in-law Stella Devoe and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Young, Marie Gerrow, Lilly Donovan, her brothers Ernie and Dennis, her father-in-law Albert Devoe, her niece Susie and nephews Larry & Kevin and her best friend Gloria Gracie.
Special thanks to Dr. Wawer and Dr. Poulos and the palliative care nurses on 4West at the Northside General Hospital for the care given to Edna. Also sincere thanks to Mary & Elmer Devoe and Darlene & Melvin Devoe for their support and kindness.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass for Edna will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
