It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eileen Theresa (MacNeil) Lovett, age 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, on Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Eileen was born in Bras d’Or on April 5, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Theresa (Boutilier) MacNeil. Eileen graduated in 1950 as a Registered Nurse from Hamilton Memorial Hospital. Soon after, she left for New York City to work at the polio clinic located there. She returned to Bras d’Or at age 28 and met the love of her life, Keith, at a dance at the Northern Yacht Club and the couple married a year later. Eileen spent the majority of her married life in Kitchener-Waterloo and made many dear friends before returning once again, to Bras d’Or, where she and Keith retired to their little piece of heaven overlooking the lake.

Eileen is fondly remembered as a kind hearted and fun-loving woman with a colourful sense of humour, a quick wit and a personality that would light up a room. She was a warm and charming woman whose loving and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is also survived by her brothers, Sidney MacNeil, Freeman (Doreen) MacNeil, her sister Joan (Allison) Young; nephews and nieces, Blair, Chuck, Theresa, Glen Howard, Kelly and Brenda and sister-in-law, Germaine MacNeil.
