It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Jenkins, after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Bras d’Or on December 22, 1947, Betty was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Lyle) Conway. Mom retired from Scotiabank, North Sydney and later worked seasonally at the United Farmers Co-op where she continued her love of gardening. Left to grieve her loss are her four sons and their families; Shawn (Sherri and children Amanda, Ryan, Corey and Katie), Derek (Tammy and children Braydon and Brooklyn), Mark (and daughter Callie), and Tony (Andrea and children Ty, Rowan, Reese and Mason) and great-grandchildren Jake and Owen.
Mom is also survived by brothers Sandy (Ann) Conway, Herbie (Gail) Conway and Wayne Conway; sisters Debbie (Johnny) Paquet, Karen (Gerry) Petite, sister-in-law Marguerite Conway and brothers-in-law Sandy McInnis and Doug Rideout. Mom was predeceased by her soul-mate and best friend, Joe Jenkins on February 17, 2010; her parents John and Katherine (Lyle) Conway, her bother Johnny, sisters Mary McInnis and Arlene Rideout, and nephew Corey Rideout.
We would like to thank Dr. Stephanie Langley and all of the nurses and staff at the Northside General Hospital for your kindness and care throughout this very difficult time.
