With heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister, aunt, godmother and friend, Elizabeth Eileen Young, age 70, on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in North Sydney on June 20, 1948, Eileen was the daughter of the late Allan and Charlotte (Reid) Young. Eileen was a resident of Stephen’s Guest Home from 2004 to 2012 and then moved to the Northside Community Guest Home residing on “Joseph Hall”, where she was treated like family. Eileen enjoyed playing cards, playing the lottery, playing bingo, drinking pop, reading romance novels, looking for Sandra and being a kind soul. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and Johnny Reid. She was a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club.
Eileen is survived by her brother Clayton (Sally) Young, Oshawa, her three sisters Dorothy Sullivan, Jacqueline Young, both of Sydney, Jessie (Ken) Klassen, Long Reach, NB, her nieces Lori, Arlene, Sandra, who helped care for her for the past numerous years and nephews John and Anthony, her great aunt Dorcas Samms, Ontario and also a number of grandnieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Lillian Roberts, Evelyn Young, Christina Young, brothers-in-law Leonard Roberts, Frank Sullivan, Ronnie Yorke, nephews David Roberts and Brian Sullivan.
Visitation for Eileen will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
