It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Francis Gerard Walsh of Sydney Mines, on December 15, 2019 in Toronto.
Gerard was born in Sydney Mines on April the 14th, 1965. He was the son of the late Louis and Sarah Catherine (Currie) Walsh. Gerard was a long-time member of local union 46 & 92, working hard throughout Ontario and Alberta as a journeyman plumber and pipe-fitter for 33 years. Gerard had a selfless manner and a heart of gold. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his “Little Angel,” Magdalene Bernadette, whom he loved beyond words.
He is survived by his only daughter, Magdalene Walsh (Chris Boutilier), and grandson Easton Boutilier; brother John Willy (Brenda) Walsh; sisters Moria Walsh, Mary Olive Dugas, Theresa Gear, Alice Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides his parents, Gerard is predeceased by his brothers, Daniel, John Joe, Anthony, Louis Jr., and two siblings at infancy; the mother of his daughter and special friend Laurnice Walsh, as well as nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sydney Mines, at a later date.
