Gordon Raymond Pierre
North Sydney
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Gordon Raymond Pierre, age 82, on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Whitney Pier on August 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Harry and Verlie (Inkpen) Pierre.
Gordon was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces serving with the Canadian Army. He later worked many jobs all over the world. He spent several years living in Ontario before retiring back to Cape Breton.
Gordon was a fun-loving man who had a great sense of humour and took great pleasure in making people laugh. He had been a loving caregiver and companion to his wife Maureen and will be truly missed for his many acts of kindness.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Maureen (Joseph) Pierre; his daughter, Cindy and her children, Taylor and Travis, and by his son, Randy. Also surviving are his brother, William; sisters, Dorothy, Rose (Frank), and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Finlay, Harry and four sisters, Verlie, Martha, Olive and Bella.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Hospice/Palliative Care of Cape Breton, VON, as well as the doctors and nursing staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Gordon during his illness.
In accordance with Gordon’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Whitney Pier.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
