It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John Gardiner Gunn, age 92, beloved father, uncle, granduncle, neighbor and friend, on Monday June 25, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

John was born in North Sydney, March 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Alfred and Hughena (MacKenzie) Gunn. John was employed with CN Express and later with CN Marine until his retirement. John was an avid golfer, a longtime member and former Club Champion of the Seaview Golf and Country Club. He was a former member of the Northern Yacht Club and a member of the Royal Albert Masonic Lodge.  He was a huge Screaming Eagles Fan and enjoyed attending the games. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his cottage in Georges River.

He is survived by his son Ian Gunn, special nieces Pam (George) Pilgrim and Charlene Ings (Darrell Marsh) and her children Stephanie (Westin, Ryden and Kherington) and Phillip who were like his grandchildren;special friends “sons” Ian (Darlene) MacLean; Ted (Stacey) LeMoine and their children Arianna, Hudson and Vivienne; special neighbors Dean and Lois MacKenzie and their grandchildren, Holly and David MacDonald and their children Max & Mya; Carey and Tanya Romeo and their children Carey and Caelin; several other nieces and nephews and also special friend Dorothy LeDrew.

John was predeceased by his wife Goldie (Ings) Gunn, his brother Donald Gunn, his sister Betty Parsons.

Visitation for John will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Stacey Lemoine officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
