John Wayne MacKenzie 70

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Richard Wayne MacKenzie age 70, on Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
John Wayne was born in Sydney Mine on October 7, 1947 and was raised by the MacKinnon family of Bay St. Lawrence. He has been a resident of Breton Ability Centre, Sydney for the past 20 years. John Wayne loved wearing cowboy hats, listening to country music and watching western movies. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour.
He is survived by a son Ian Shaw (Mae Lovell), Sydney Mines and by his close friend Alice Jennex.
A funeral service for John Wayne will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
