It is with sadness that we, the family of John Douglas “Doug” Carey, age 56, announce his passing on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Halifax on July 31, 1962, Doug was the son of the late John “Bill” and Ruth “Beth” (Parsons) Carey.

He is survived by his two sons Brandon (Stephanie) and Darren, both of St. Catharines, Ontario, his two grandchildren Warren and Peyton, his step-children Jillian & Gary Gray, his sister Jocelyn Caines Mosher (Michael), Chester Basin.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

There will be no visitation by request.  Cremation has taken place, a funeral and burial for Doug will take place at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
