It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, brother, companion, grandfather, uncle and friend, Joseph C. Druggan on Thursday, January 11, 2018.

Born April 7, 1939 in Bras d’Or, Joe was the son of the late James and Ethel (Serroul) Druggan.

As a young man, Joe sailed the Great Lakes and later took a job with Devco at Princess Colliery. He later worked at the Coal Preparation plant until his retirement.

In his younger years, Joe played hockey with the Bras d’Or Lakers and his team was inducted into the Northside Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. He also played for a number of years with the Sydney Mines Old Timers.

Joe loved spending time at the family cabin in Margaree where he enjoyed many hours fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his son Joseph (Sandra) Druggan, daughter Lynn (Wayne) Dolomont, three grandchildren, Olivia, Amiee, Lindsay; his three sisters, Rose (Vince) MacLean, Ann Parsons, Shirley Jessome; by his special companion Antoinette Jessome as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Joe was predeceased by a sister Mary Martin, brother, Sonny Druggan, brothers-in-law, Bob Parsons, Tom Martin and nieces, Cheryl Harbin and Michelle MacLean.

There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Church, Alder Point, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Parish Cemetery or any charity.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
