It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, June Lorraine Jaques, age 79, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Northside Community Guest Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney on January 7, 1939, June was the daughter of the late Alexander and Isabel (Stubbert) Canavan. June centered her life around her family, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the simple things in life, exercising, going for walks and drives with her husband George. She loved cooking and baking, praying and reading her bible.
June is survived by her children, Sylvia, Sydney, Rebecca (Carey Phillips), North Sydney, Wilson (Heather), Sydney Mines, Lorraine (Teddy Kavanaugh) and Lloyd, both of North Sydney, George Wayne (Angela), Georges River, her 12 grandchildren Brooklynn, Julia, Jessica, Nicholas, Sarah, Kyle, Curtis, Dakota, Carriann, Olivia, Ava and Coady, and her great-grandchild Sierra. Also surviving is her brother Wayne (Diane) Canavan, Truro, her sister Sherry (David) Porter, North Sydney, sister-in-law Wanda, nieces, nephews, and also her special aunt and friend Yvonne Johnston.
Besides her parents, June was predeceased by her husband George in 2016 and her brother Lloyd Canavan.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Theresa Terrace at the Northside Community Guest Home, and Dr. John Kirkpatrick for the care given to June.
Visitation for June will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney with Rev. John Hannem officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
