It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Lillian Elizabeth Leyte, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Sydney Mines on December 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Burt) Peddle.

Lillian was a talented baker. She especially enjoyed decorating cakes for all occasions and was proud of the many beautiful wedding cakes she made over the years.

Lillian loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were important to her whether it was the traditional holiday meals, or Saturday spaghetti night at her home. All were welcome.

Lillian is survived by her nine children, Barbara Leyte Waterloo ON, Harry Leyte, Fred (Nadine) Leyte, both of Kitchener, ON, Alice (Robert) Hawley, Mill Creek, Jim (Wendy) Leyte and Jake (Valerie) Leyte, both of North Sydney, Debbie (Edward) Young, Berwick, NS, Christine (Jerry) Leyte, Alberta, Lawrence Leyte (Mike), Sydney; by special grandchildren Heather and James and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Jack (Vivian) Peddle, Waterloo, ON; two sisters, Georgina (Bud) MacDonald, Geraldine (Roy) McAllister, both of Delhi, ON and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Harry, daughter Margaret, daughter-in-law, Donna, special grand daughter Elizabeth Leyte and by her sister Shirley (Frank) Schram.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seaview Manor and the Glace Bay General Hospital for the care and compassion given to Lillian.
