J. Lois MacLeod

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Lois MacLeod, age 82, on Saturday, November 23, 2019, in her home after a short battle with liver disease.
Born in Thorburn, Nova Scotia, on January 27, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Louise “Lou” Park. In her early years, Lois worked at Woolco in Sydney, NS. She was an active member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church in North Sydney, as well as being an active member of the UCW. She spent many hours volunteering at the Northside Food Bank and taking part in the Atlantic Burn Camp. She will always be remembered for her love of family, spending time with friends, and the great love of her grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Gordon; her two daughters, Geraldine MacIntosh, North Sydney, Lesley (Ben) Pickles, Sydney; her grandchildren, Kristen (Mark), Karyn (Greg), Everett (Laura), Brittany, Jason, Michael, Kathryn, Andrew; her seven great-grandchildren that she adored and her many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alex Wawer, all the staff on 5 East at the Northside General Hospital, as well as Palliative Care and VON.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Matthew Wesley United Church with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Wesley United Church.
