Mary C. Jackson
It is with great sadness, but wonderful memories that we the family of Mary Cluett Jackson, age 99, wish to notify the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Mary was born in Belleoram, Newfoundland on May 7, 1918, and was looking forward to celebrating her 100 birthday. She was the daughter of the late Priscilla and Ernest Taylor.
Mary was married to the late Daniel “Don” Jackson for over 50 years and they resided on Peppett Street for most of those years. They were avid card players and they shared many laughs attending all the games with their countless friends. Mary was lifetime member of the North Sydney Pensioners Club. Mary loved crafts, knitting, sewing, crocheting and gardening. She won many ribbons at the Cape Breton County Exhibition for her fine work. She was a former member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church in North Sydney.
She is survived and dearly loved by her daughter Marie Hussey, Dartmouth, her grandchildren David (Ella), Janice (Jeff), Blair (Stephanie), Glenn (Julie) and great-grandchildren Harlow, Colette, Shan and Cass. She is also survived by two sisters Elsie and Winetta and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by sisters Dorothy and Esther, brothers Ernie, Richard and Lyman, also her son-in-law Dave Hussey.
The family would like to thank Dr. William MacDonald and the Northside Community Guest Home for the excellent care given to Mary over the years.
At Mary’s request there will be no visitation, a private service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Westley United Church, the Northside Community Guest Home or a charity of choice.
