It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Mary Margaret MacPhee, age 77, on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in North Sydney, on December 5, 1940, Mary was the daughter of the late George and Helen Grace (Bona) Jardine.  In her earlier years she worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and later with Canadian Tire in the warehouse until her retirement. Mary’s main focus in life was spending time with her family. She loved cooking, baking and gardening. Mary had a love for fiddle music and she was an avid step dancer.  Mary was known for her famous shortbread cookies that family and neighbors got to enjoy every Christmas. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Gannon Road and recently a member St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.

She is survived by her children, her sons William (Becky) MacPhee, New Glasgow, Liam (Sheryl) MacPhee, Halifax, Michael MacPhee, at home, her daughter Denise MacPhee, North Sydney, her seven grandchildren Tara Lee, Shane, Christopher, Danielle, Kaitlin, Cole and Ryan, her 2 great-grandchildren Isaac and Toryn. Also surviving are her sisters Valerie (Jack) Bona, North Sydney, Gracie Jardine (Steve), St. Peter’s, her brothers Jack (Marjorie) Jardine, Georges River, Robert (Lynn) Jardine, Orangedale and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband William MacPhee in 2004.
