Michael Terrance Jamael

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Michael Terrance Jamael, age 78, beloved

husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 

at the Northern Health Centre, High Level Alberta. 

Born in Sydney on July 3rd, 1939, Mike was the only child of the late Charles and Eliza (O'Connell) Jamael.

For the last three years of Mike's life he lived in Rainbow Lake, Alberta, where he met some good friends. 

He was retired from BIO Bedford Institute of Oceanography. Mike was well known for his musical talent, singing, guitar playing, and sense of humor. Also known for his Thursday evening jams on Young Ave in Cape Breton with all his talented friends. (keep on picking)

Mike was survived by his loving wife Violet, son James Lee (Michelle) Jamael, grandchildren Madison, James Jamael, Jen, Leona Close, and great-grandchild Declan Close. Extended family, Wanda(Delbert) Sibley, North Sydney, Wendy (Dick) Lyle, Sydney Mines, Brenda (George) MacGillivary, Rainbow Lake, AB,  grandchildren Brad, Linda, Katie, 

Emily, Aaron, Valerie, Stephen, Tyler, Brandon, Dillon, Allison, Daniel, Victoria, Pearl, great- grandchildren Sammie, Bailee, Bryson, Adam, Josh, MacKenzie, River, Aliya, Brigston, Avah, Adrian, Layla and Lily. Also survived by a brother-in-law Bill Williams, sisters-in-law Janice(Jeff) Wheeler, Jackie (Bud) Herald.

Predeceased by his parents Charles and Eliza O'connell Jamael, his first wife Shirley Lahey, daughter Terralyn Ann Fitzgerald, and step-daughter Linda Dunphy.

A special thank you to Donna and Paul MacDougall, Janice, Bill, Brenda and George and all the staff at the Rainbow Lake Health Clinic and Northern Health Centre (Palliative Care) for all the special care given to Mike during his illness.

Cremation has taken place and funeral service for Mike will be held in Rainbow Lake, Alberta.
