Sydney
There are no words to describe the magnitude of love we have and the loss we feel. We regret to announce the passing of Minnie (Osmond) Harris-MacDougall, 97, who entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 8, 2018.
She was loved beyond words and will be missed and cherished in many hearts. Minnie was born on May 26, 1920 in Sydney Mines. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Cecilia (Ryan) Osmond.
Minnie was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church, Sydney Mines. She had the kindest heart, one thing was for sure if you visited, you never got to leave on an empty belly, whether you were hungry or not. Minnie loved to cook and bake, she was sure to have a meal on hand no matter what time you arrived. She loved having company whether you stayed an hour or for several days, you always felt welcome in her home. You could feel her love up close or from afar.
Minnie will be greatly missed by her children; Mazie Scott, Elenor Degaust, both of Kentville, Rick (Roberta) Degaust, Halifax, step-daughters; Thelma MacIntyre, Elaine Chisholm, Sydney Mines. Also left to mourn are her sister Daisy Costello, Ontario and loving daughter-in-law Selina Harris, North Sydney, her grandchildren Cecilia (Leonard) Nicholson, Blair (Cathy-Anne) Harris, Ashley (Greg) Harris, Jamie (Cassandra) Scott, Andy (Vera) Scott, Peggy Lutz, and William (Mary) Degaust. Also holding a special place in Minnie’s heart was Gus and Tommy Long. Her spirit will be carried on by her many great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Minnie loved and cherished all of the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was sure to tell them how much she loved them, “A bushel & a peck and a hug around your neck.”
Besides her parents, Minnie was predeceased by her husbands; Elmer Harris and Daniel MacDougall, her loving son Frederick Harris, stepsons Danny, Frankie, Roddie, Jimmy and Douglas MacDougall, by her sisters Nellie, Bessie and Lilly, her brothers William, Lodrick, George, Fred and Albert, grandchildren Cathy, George, Barb, Frankie and Joey Scott, Deborah Ann Degaust, sons-in-law George Scott, Cecil Degaust, Leonard Chisholm and Norman T. “Diddy” MacIntyre.
Selina and family, there are no words to describe the gratitude we have for all you’ve done for our mother; you are nothing less than a blessing from God! We appreciate all you’ve done and continue to do. We would also like to send a heartfelt thanks to the nurses, staff and palliative care at MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney.
