It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Regis Frances “Peachie” Cameron age 87, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Regis was born in North Sydney on May 11, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Brewer) Burke. She was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Joseph Church and had a strong faith in God throughout her life. She was a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a former President of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #19 Royal Canadian Legion, she was an avid bingo player, enjoyed horse racing and playing darts at the KOC hall and the Legion. She was interviewed by CBC Radio, a few years ago about her daily and weekly ritual of watching “Mass for Shut Ins”.

Regis is survived by her daughter Mary (Jim) Cameron – Kelly, Greenwood, NS, her sons Thomas Cameron (Paula Partridge), Oromocto, NB, David Cameron, Lower Sackville, NS, by her four grandchildren Cameron and Amanda Kelly, Erin and Scott Cameron, by her sisters Georgie (Vince) Muise, Sydney River, Marie Romeo and Monica (Brian) Shebib, North Sydney, by her brother Tom Burke, North Sydney, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Cameron in 1992, her sisters Kay MacEachern, Teresa McKinnon, Vaughan Bagnall, Peggy Barrie, her brothers Michael Burke in infancy, Joseph and Lloyd Burke.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick for his compassionate care and the Home Care workers for the excellent attentive care given to Regis, during the past few years.

Visitation for Regis will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
