Robert V. Almon
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, brother, uncle and friend, Robert Vincent Almon, 91, on Monday, April 22, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney on October 28, 1927, he was the son of the late Baptiste and Emily (MacMullin) Almon.
Bob worked for over 30 years as a shipper with Sears Canada in Toronto, retiring back home to Cape Breton in 1986. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney, he enjoyed spending time with his family, had a great sense of humour and loved his fur baby, Snoopy.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Dorothy “Dottie” (MacNeil) Almon, his brother Denis Almon, North Sydney, a sister Dorothy Kennedy of New Waterford and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Greg, Jackie, Harold, Lawrence and infant brother Joseph; sisters, Beatrice, Loretta, Frances and Marguerite; brothers-in-law, Harvey Yost, Randolph Kennedy, Joseph Long, Alex MacNeil, Murdock MacNeil, Norman MacNeil, Angus MacNeil, Duncan MacNeil and sisters-in-law, Theresa Almon, Marcella Almon and Margaret MacNeil.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
