Ruth Elizabeth “Beth” Carey, 84
North Sydney
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Ruth Elizabeth “Beth” Carey, age 84, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Curling, Newfoundland on September 13, 1933, Beth was a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Reatha Caroline (Pennel) Parsons. She worked for a number of years with H.B. Nickerson & Sons and then later with Alder Point Fish Plant. Beth loved going for drives especially to northern Cape Breton. She enjoyed having a good time and had a great sense of humour. She was a diamond in the rough.
She is survived by her two children Jocelyn (Michael) Caines Mosher, Chester Basin and Douglas Carey, North Sydney, her 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings Diane, Charles, David, and Paul and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Thomas Carey and a number of brothers and sisters.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Northside Community Guest Home for all the care and kindness shown to Beth over the years.
By request there will be no visitation. A service for Beth will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
