With heartfelt sadness, we the family announce the passing of Thelma Piccott, age 89, our beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Northside Community Guest Home. 

Born in LaPoile, NL on April 9, 1929, Thelma was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Bond) Read.  She was a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club.  Thelma was a faithful member of the ACW and Altar Guild at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.

Thelma is survived by her two grandchildren, George (Marlene) Taylor, Louisbourg, Susanne (Robert) Horwood, Port Aux Basques, her son-in-law James Taylor, Port Aux Basques, her four great-grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Jennifer) Horwood, Kayla (Gerard) Neil, Cory Taylor, James Taylor, three great-greatgrandchildren Claire Horwood, Reagan and Maddie Neil, also her two sisters Lorraine Anderson and Geraldine (Jack) Harvey, both of Port Aux Basques, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her husband George, her daughter Marilyn Taylor, her sisters Clara, Gertrude and Mildred and her brother Max. 

Sincere thank you to the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home for the excellent care given to Thelma during her time there.

Visitation for Thelma will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Julio Martin officiating.  Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.  Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Anglican Church Fund.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
