It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Adam LeMoine, age 89, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Highland Manor in Neils Harbour.

Born in North Sydney on November 20, 1933, Adam was the son of the late Cluett and Jennie (Johnston) LeMoine.  Growing up on the family farm he quickly learned the value of a hard day’s work, something he carried with him his whole life.  Adam was well known as the “Wood Man” as he delivered firewood all over the island up until age 83.  Many times, he'd get stranded north of Smokey with a mechanical issue, and a local would take him in for supper.  Our family would like to thank those families for their hospitality over the many years, especially Denis Day in Cape North; your kindness will never be forgotten.  He was also well known as the owner and operator of LeMoine’s Service Station on Seaview Drive in Upper North Sydney.  He was an avid bowler and loved country music.

Adam is survived by his children Jennifer LeMoine Jones (Simon) and Adam Stuart (Shauna); his grandchildren Jonathan (Katie), Timothée (Rebecca Hoffer), and Danielle (Blaine Dauphney) LeMoine, and Matthew Jones; great-grandchildren Larissa, Josh, Asher, Taylor, Daniel, John-Raymond and Thomas as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Besides his parents Adam was predeceased by his wife Audrey Jeruisha (Pyke) LeMoine, his brothers Hudson and Roy, his sisters Ruth, Irene, Mabel, and Yvonne.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Highland Manor guest home in Neils Harbour where he spent his final couple of years.  We could not have asked for better love and care for Adam and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

A visitation for Adam will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Highland Manor Guest Home, Neils Harbour.  Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
