We are heartbroken to say goodbye to our beloved mother, Alaine, on November 26, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, ICU Unit. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Born in North Sydney on September 24, 1954, Alaine was the daughter of Gwendolyn and the late Berkeley Keeping, she was the oldest of 6 children. Alaine was known for her kindness and demonstrated a strong interest in baking, frequently sharing her creations with family members. She also took great care in maintaining her gardens and took pride in her achievements.
Alaine graduated from CBU with a BBA and had many careers, she ended her career life working for the Restorative Justice Department, and made many lasting friendships along the way.
She is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn Keeping, her son Kevin (Francine), her daughter and closest friend, Nicole (Trevor); seven grandchildren: Matthew, Emma, Lucas, Ryan, Brooklyn, Adam, Jocelyn, and Janelle. Her siblings; Clyde (Joanne), Donna (Eddie), Kevin and Elizabeth (Alan), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Alaine was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Charles and Jessie Taylor, paternal grandparents Willard and Millie Keeping, brother Berkeley, nephew Eddie Harris and Jason Keeping.
We would like to give our sincere thanks to the Miner’s Memorial Manor staff, where she resided for the last year, she truly enjoyed the time she spent there and her Thursday Bingo afternoons.
