Alex Garnier

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex J. Garnier age 82 on Friday May 13, 2022 at the Northside General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born in North Sydney, October 3, 1939, Alex was the son of the late Alexander and Margaret (Poole) Garnier. He lived in Ontario for over fifty-five years before moving back to North Sydney five years ago. He was a longtime member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 101, where he received the Queens Jubilee Medal. He recently became a member of Branch 008 in Sydney Mines, where he received his fifty-year membership pin in 2021.
Alex is survived by his son Danny Arnold, BC, his daughter Ann-Marie Arnold, Toronto, brothers; Vince (Sharon) and Paul (Mary) Garnier, grandchildren, two great granddaughters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Alex was predeceased by his wife Marie, brothers; Ernest (Shirley) and sister; Mary (John) Slade.
A special thank you to his niece Josie Harvey, for spending time with him while he was in hospital.
A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
