Alexander "Alex" Quirk Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Alexander “Alex” Quirk announce his passing on Sunday, February 23, 2025 in Truro, at the age of 60 years.  Born in North Sydney, Alex was the son of the late Michael and Marguerite (King) Quirk.

Alex is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen; her parents Bill and Marion Witherall, his brothers Wayne (Pat), Glen (Heather), Albert (Mary), Roger and Terry; his sisters Carol Quirk, Linda Phillips, Marlene (Dave) Farrell, Florence Oakes and Maggie (Roy) Sawler; many nieces and nephews; his godson Billy Quirk and dearest friend Corrine Kay, Summerside, PE.

Besides his parents, Michael and Marguerite Quirk, Alex was predeceased by his brother Bill and nephew Monty Farrell.

Alex worked for Sobey’s for over 39 years at various stores in Cape Breton, Summerside and Truro, where he made many lasting friendships.  Alex was a real people person, who could easily engage with anyone in a conversation about anything, anywhere he went.

Some of Alex’s favorite memories included camping trips with his mom and dad; traveling throughout the Maritimes and to the United States with Karen Jean (his trip to Epcot Centre in Florida being his favorite), and spending time with his brothers at the cabin in Margaree.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to their many friends at the Chesswood Apartments for the kindness, care and support offered to Alex and Karen during Alex’s illness.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A celebration of life for Alex will take place at a later date.

As per Alex’s request, Memorial donations to Hope for Wildlife would be greatly appreciated.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
