Alexander "Alex" Stamper

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander "Alex" William Stamper, age 82, on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on May 18, 1941, Alex was the son of the late Daniel and Nora (Farrell) Stamper. He was employed at the Sydney Steel Plant for many years retiring in 1993.

Surviving is his sister Martina “Tina” (Bill) Matthews, Fredericton NB, and by his partner of 34 years Ann Larade.

Besides his parents Alex was predeceased by his brother Lloyd Stamper and sister-in-law Cassie (Taylor) Stamper.

The family would like to thank the staff of 5th floor east at Northside General Hospital for keeping Alex’s last days peaceful and comfortable. Special thanks go to neighbours extraordinaire Kenny and Peggy MacDonald.

As per Alex’s request, cremation has taken place. A visitation for Alex will be held 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday followed by a funeral service at 11 am, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society.
