It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother Alice (Ali) Fahie, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, on Monday January 3, 2022 at the age of 89 at Harbourview Hospital, Sydney Mines.

Born in Bras d'Or she was the daughter of the late Art and Rachael (Young) Petite.

Ali devoted her life to being a homemaker supporting her husband and sons. She also provided childcare for family and friends. She was also devoted to the Catholic church. Ali will always be remembered for her amazing smile, laugh and sense of humour.

Ali is survived by her two sons, Michael (Kim) Fahie, Big Bras d’Or, Colin (Heidi) Fahie, Black Rock; five grandchildren, Shannon, Devon, Mikela, Tristan and Nicholas; two great grandchildren, Madison and Kaleb as well as numerous nieces and nephews and close friends Jimmy and Pauline Iannetti and Lena Gabriel.

Also surviving are her in-laws Shirley (George) Walker, Willena MacLeod, Irene Blanger and Phyllis Petite.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by Lorne her loving husband of 58 years, sisters Margarite, Elaine and Nellie and brothers George and Carl.

The family would like to extend their thankfulness to the staff of Harbourview Hospital for the care and comfort they provided to Ali over the last year as well as the many homecare workers who supposed her while living at home

Cremation has taken place. Interment and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the food bank in Big Bras d’Or by contacting Keith Bain or the Northside Hospital Foundation.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
