It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Elizabeth Russell, age 80, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Abbott) Brown.
Alice was a graduate of Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney for many years. She was a former member of Christ the King Anglican Church in Sydney and St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney.
She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Ann (Joe) Aylward, North Sydney and Sherry Lynn (Tom) Pyke of New Brunswick; three grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Pyke, Alexandra Aylward; four great grandchildren, Nolen and Wyatt Pyke, Atticus and Charlie.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Adrian Vickers and her second husband Fred Russell.
There will be no visitation by request. A private family service will take place and burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
