Amelia “Millie” Collis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Millie Collis on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Rencontre East, NL in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jessie (Brewer) Baker. Millie was a member of the St. Stephens Church, Rencontre East, and a member of St. John The Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. She was a former member of the ACW and the senior choir for many years. Millie was also a member of a number of local community groups; Alter Guild, Married Couples, Monroe Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star No. 26. She received the 60-year jewel plus a life membership of the order.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Wilfred Collis, her three sisters Edna, Lillian and Bessie. Also, her great-grandson Ashton Goodwin.
Millie is survived by her sons Richard (Heather), Barry (Brenda) and daughter Annette (Charlie). Also, her six grandchildren Genevieve, Sean, Diane, Shannon, Cassie and Adam; great-grandchildren Zander, Easton, Nolan, Nadia, Sophie, Daxton and Anderson.
Visitation for Millie will be held from 6-9 pm, Sunday, May 14, at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, May 15, at St. John The Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating.
