It is with broken hearts, we the family, announce the passing of Angeline Rees, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Bay St. Lawrence, Cape Breton, on November 2, 1945, she was the daughter of the late John George and Mary Josephine MacNeil.
Ann enjoyed the simple things in life - having a chat or helping her sisters make a pot of fudge. She was a gifted seamstress, spending many hours creating quilts, curtains and other needlepoint treasures.
Ann is survived by her greatest love, her children; Noreen (Percy), Teresa, Diane (Mark) and Scott; her grandchildren Alexander, Matthew, Daniel, Abby and Mark, her two great-granddaughters Isabel and Madeline. Also left to mourn her loss are her sisters Sylvia (Billy), Evelyn (Andy), Lorraine (Nelson) Susanne, Julia (Jim), and her brother Russell (Paula).
Besides her parents, Angeline was predeceased by her husband Grandville, her sisters Noreen, Kathleen and Charlotte, and her brothers Bill, Earl, Alex and Gordon.
A Funeral Mass for Angeline will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will take place in Bay St. Lawrence at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024. A special thank you is extended to Palliative Care Services, with special thanks to Julia Penny, RN, and the staff of the Northside General Hospital, 4th floor, who went above and beyond in their care of mom.
