Anne Elizabeth (Young) Power

It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Anne Elizabeth Power, announce her peaceful passing on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the age of 89, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.

Born on December 25, 1935, in North Sydney, to the late James and Mary Ann (MacDonald) Young. Anne was the last surviving member of the Young family. She was a kind person who always welcomed people into her home over the years. All who visited were shown wonderful hospitality and fed. Anne would help others when needed in a very selfless manner. Anne and her late husband Leo were dedicated to their children over the years. Anne ensured that their daughter Louise was well cared for 40 years until she moved to supportive community living.

Anne was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. She was also a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Sydney. She will be missed by her family, friends and best friend Gerry MacNeil. Anne is survived by her children: Joseph (Esther) Power, Teresa (Blair) Sibley, Sharon Power (Terry), Colleen Witherall, Rosemarie (Terry) Carter; grandchildren: Amanda, Taylor, Emily, Zachery, Jessica and Nicole; great-grandchild: Ellis and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Anne was predeceased by her husband Leo Power; children: David Wallace and Louise Power; brothers: Michael, James, Francis and Reverend Joe Young.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 5, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
