It is with tender hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Annie MacDonald, age 91, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with her family by her side.
Born in North Sydney on October 4, 1931, Annie was the daughter of the late Gordon and Clara (Jessome) Annesty. Annie was a quiet-natured and easy-going person who got along so well with so many people over the years. She worked many years as a shop clerk in “Buddy Guy’s Store” and Way’s Dairy. She was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney, serving with the Lady’s Guild there. She was a proud member of the North Sydney Pensioners’ Club for over 25 years. She was an avid bowler, dart player, and board game enthusiast. She loved baking, serving up countless home-made treats to many appreciative grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years.
Annie is survived by her children, Ann Marie (Neil) MacKinnon, Little Pond, Blair, North Sydney, Karen (John) Stubbert, Kingston, NS, Gordie, North Sydney, and Kevin (Clare), New Market, ON; her grandchildren Tena Davidson, Robert MacDonald, Brett and Shea Stubbert, Nicholas, Aiden and Liam MacDonald; great-grandchildren Tyler, Caden, Jace, Jericho, Casey, and Cameron; special nieces Heather, Patty, and Faye.
Besides her parents, Annie was predeceased by her husband, P. Robert “Bobby” MacDonald, her brother Gordon, and her daughter-in-law Linda MacDonald.
Visitations for Annie will be held between 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St. North Sydney. A funeral service will be held the following morning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor James MacLellan officiating.
