It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Bessie (MacAulay) Rogers, aged 88, on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Bessie was born in Big Bras d’Or on May 22, 1933.  She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Christine (MacNeil) MacAulay.

In her earlier years she was employed at Crowell’s department store in Sydney.  She enjoyed going to dances, playing cards and travelling especially spending winters in Florida for over 30 years.  She loved watching hockey and her game shows.  She kept busy with her hobbies of baking, sewing, crafts as well as reading and word puzzles.  She looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings.

She was an active member at the St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney and a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary.  She loved going to her weekly TOPS meetings and was the TOPS Queen which she was quite proud of.

Bessie was predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon Rogers of 59 years.  Her brother Harold and special sister-in-law, Edie MacAulay and her son-in-law, Donald Campbell.

She is survived by her three daughters, Treva (Gratten/Duke) Fraser, Valerie Rogers and Karen Campbell.  Her five grandchildren, Shawn (Susan) Fraser, Stacey (Karl Lagace) Fraser, Ryan (Terri) Campbell, Samantha (Aaron Hiller) Campbell and Shelly (Brandon MacIntyre) Campbell.  As well as her five great-grandchildren, Kara and Faith Fraser who she looked forward to their visits, Bridget Hiller, Myla MacIntryre and Asher Campbell with a little bundle soon on the way.  Also, a number of nieces, nephews and her fur baby Lucky the cat.
