Blanche Peters Obituary

Blanche Peters

North Sydney

It is with both great sadness and tremendous appreciation for her long life that we, her children, write this obituary for our mother Blanche Kathleen Peters, aged 87. She died peacefully on Thursday August 29, 2019 at the Northside Community Guest Home.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was born December 20, 1931, in Bay d’ Espoir Newfoundland to the late Walter and Mary Alice (Bobbit) Cox.
She was a stay at home Mom and is survived by her five children; Ethel (Joe) MacNeil, Ingonish; Mona (Tom) Baryluk, Sydney; Elizabeth, Ingonish; Cathy (Ed) Lawlor, Conception Bay South,  Newfoundland; and Terry (Gillian Callison), Vashon Island, Washington.
During her life she held many titles; daughter, sister, wife, mother, but none was more important than Nanny to her five grandchildren; Matthew (Stephanie) Baryluk, Burnaby, BC; Jillian (Troy Ingraham) MacNeil, St. Peters; Joey (Samantha) MacNeil, Calgary, Alberta; Terri-Lynne (Jarret McPhee) Baryluk, Halifax, NS; Rebecca (Jordan Lee) Lawlor, Conception Bay South, NL. She was a proud great-grandmother to three great-granddaughters; Abbey Ingraham, Charley McPhee, Rosie Baryluk, and two great-grandsons; Emmett McPhee and Harold (Harry) MacNeil.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jessie Green, Bridgewater and her brother-in-law Roy French, Toronto. Mom had many nieces and nephews, but was especially close to her niece Effie Buffet, Bay d'Espoir, NL, and her good friend Florence Knott.

She was predeceased by her husband, of 53 years, Harold and most recently her grandson Brendan Lawlor; her siblings Effie French, Emma Cornish, Alma Hiscock, Bertha Thorne, and her brother John Cox.

She was a faithful member of St. John The Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney and for many years served on the altar guild.

Honouring her wishes there will be no visitation. A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 6th at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Douglas Beck officiating.
At this time we would like to thank Dr. S. Langley and the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for their kindness and care. Mom was thankful and content to be at Cara House in this last year.
Family flowers only. Donations in her memory to the Northside Community Guest Home Foundation or a charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
