Bobby Wade Gordon Van Dommelen

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Bobby Van Dommelen on November 14, 2024, age 40, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

Bobby leaves behind his wife and soul mate Lori Rose, in-laws James and Wilma Rose and (extended Rose family); His parents Anne and Andrew Van Dommelen, siblings Julie Van Dommelen-Brown, Aimee (Orin) Van Dommelen-Waltin and Andy (Lori) Van Dommelen.  Bobby also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and countless great friends. 

Bobby was born November 28, 1983 at Northside General Hospital.  He was raised and resided in Southside Boularderie, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Bobby was employed with Nova Scotia Department of Highways. He loved the family farm, hunting and fishing with his best friend Cory Bradbury, enjoying time at the farm shore, ATV’ing and anything to do with the outdoors. 

Bobby is pre-deceased by his Opa and Oma (Johannas and Ardiana Van Dommelen), Grampy and Grammy (Wilfred and Martha Jones), Tante Jane (Pinhorn), Uncle William (Van Dommelen), Uncle Hank Heukshorst, his dear friend James Gillis and close cousin Hudson Beresford. 

A special heart felt thank you to Monica and Dina Samson, and all of the outstanding healthcare staff at the QEII, ICU.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bobby’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life for Bobby will be held from 4-7 pm, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A special gathering to celebrate Bobby will follow at 8:00 pm, at the Southside Boularderie Fire Hall.
