It is with tremendous grief that we announce the sudden passing of Brandy McKee, age 23, loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and friend, on January 7, 2024. Born in Sydney on July 24, 2000, Brandy was the daughter of Jessica McKee (Geoff) and Troy (Angela) Thomas.

Brandy was fiery, spunky, independent and uniquely individual. She was also exceptionally thoughtful and caring, sacrificing her own needs for the wellbeing of others around her. She was a people person, often beaming with her big smile and infectious laugh. She loved being a mother to her darling daughter, Ember, the light of her life.

Along with her parents, Brandy is survived by her treasured daughter, Ember; her siblings Chelsea (Kristopher), Shirley (Mandy), Natalie, Troy Jr., Jasmine, and Mya Dufour; her maternal grandfather Ross McKee; her uncles Ross McKee, Ronnie (Leanne) McKee, and George Thomas (Wendy); aunts Georgia (Al) Vachon and Patricia Thomas; cousins Jennifer Nicholson, Shauntelle Usher, Belle, Ben, Sophie, Emily, Sam, Cheyenne, Natasha, Christina, Stuart, and Chris.

Brandy was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Anna Parks; her great-grandmother, Vivian Parks, and her paternal grandparents Louella (Walter) Ford and George Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to support Crohn’s Disease and/or mental health.

A visitation will be held for Brandy from 12 to 2p.m. on Saturday, January 13 at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St. in North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. of the same day with Deacon Dave Lewis officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney will take place at a later date in the spring.
