It is with heavy hearts we as the family announce the passing of our mother, Brenda Chislett, age 60, on  Saturday, July 18, 2020 in North Sydney.

Born in North Sydney on April 13, 1960, she was the daughter of Frank and Catherine “Tootsie” (Gillis) Bond.  Brenda was an incredible daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked for many years at Canadian Tire in North Sydney and then moved on to operate her own business, My Neighbor's Grocery. In more recent years she returned to work as a patient sitter in hospitals throughout Cape Breton. Over her lifetime Brenda always enjoyed seeing the faces of her regular customers and creating long lasting friendships with her coworkers.

Brenda enjoyed her summers in the yard of her home gardening as her furry feline friends would be at her feet. She loved camping on the Mira and enjoyed listening to the tunes at any gathering. If there was a gathering or any occasion you could always count on Brenda to have a tray of sweets and goodies as she also spent much of her time baking in her kitchen. Over the years Brenda and her husband Curtis would often travel around the Atlantic provinces in their family camper and enjoyed the scenic routes.

Besides her parents Frank and Catherine “Tootsie”, Brenda is also survived by her son John (Cindy) Bond, Whitney Pier, her two daughters Kathryn Chislett (Steven Dunn), Sydney Mines, Heather Chislett (Paul Ivey), North Sydney, her three grandsons Hayden, Curtis James and John, her brothers Ralph Bond (Shauna Ivey), Greg Bond (Marg Penny), Ronnie Bond (Kim), Michael Bond, all of North Sydney, sisters-in-law Janie Chislett and Linda Harbinson, both of North Sydney, many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Curtis Chislett and a grandson Roland Chislett-Dunn.

Visitation for Brenda will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney with Mark Hatt officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA or charity of choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
