Brian Michael May

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Michael May, age 81, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Dartford, England, Brian was the son of the late William and Edna (Hickson) May.

Brian was affectionally known as Grampy to his family. He was a shinning light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love and compassion. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his devoted wife and family, friends and many whose lives were touched by him. We wish for you to remember him for the way he lived and the impact he has had on those who knew Brian. He was not just our father, grandfather or friend, he became close to everyone. There wasn’t a mountain he wouldn’t climb for anyone. Brian had a love for sports, hunting and fishing were his second love of life, his family was always his first.

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Sandra, by his daughters Nancy, Niagara Falls and Susan (Rob Davidson), Sydney Mines, grandchildren; Amanda (Matthew), Burlington, Kayla (Nick), Eastern Passage, Alicia (Steven), Bedford, Skylee, Sydney Mines, Kendra (Nathan), Niagara Falls, great grandchildren; Bentley, Reign, Jackson, Emily, Cohen, Myles and Gabriel. He will be missed by his close friend and hunting companion of many many years John Goodhew, and by the many kids he took under his wing over his lifespan.

By request there will be no funeral service. The family will be having a celebration of life during the summer to celebrate this extraordinary man. A date to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
