Bridgett Cox
North Sydney
It is with overwhelming sadness but with a heart full of gratitude for having her in our lives, that we announce the peaceful passing of Bridgett (Jessome) Cox on Friday, August 28, 2020 after a brief stay in the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Mill Creek, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Maryanne (Marsh) Jessome.
Bridgett worked for many years at the Northside General Hospital before meeting and marrying her one true love, Bobby. They became parents to their only child, Caroline, and together, shared a beautiful life. Bridgett was genuinely a devoted and dedicated Mom and wife; kind and compassionate and cared for her family more than anything in the world.
Though she came off shy at times, to truly know Bridgett was to know she was full of personality and was a real gem. She loved life’s simple treasures; flowers, daily phone calls with her sisters and catching the rare glimpse of a hummingbird at the feeder. She smiled when she talked about the old days in Bras d'Or with her siblings and shared many fond memories of watching her nieces and nephews grow up. She couldn’t miss her Saturday cooking shows and she always had a bag of caramels at her side. She will be missed forever and a day.
Bridgett is survived by her daughter and best friend Caroline (Richard), sisters Marguerite (the late Carmen) Jamieson, Halifax, Isabelle (the late Jamie) Taylor, Florence, Ellen (the late Bud) Penney, North Sydney, her brothers Reg (Lily) Jessome, Bras d'Or and Earl (Gertie), Sydney, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her beloved Bobby, she was predeceased by brothers Emmett, Tom, Willie Russell, John A., Nash and Dennis and sisters Mary, Madonna and Anna.
Caroline will be forever grateful to Dr. Beth MacCormick, Amanda Chapman and Dr. Dawn Browne, special friends Tara Young and Bonnie Clark, Nurse Hollie and the amazing Palliative Care team, Northside Homemakers and the VON. Thank you all so much for your care and support.
Per her wishes there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the wearing of masks are required and social distancing will be followed with limited seating in the church. Private family burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations made be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
