Bruce James Ivey

It is with great sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of our brother, uncle and friend, Bruce James Ivey, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Bruce was born in North Sydney on May 23, 1955, to the late James and Jean (Maxwell) Ivey. Bruce was known as a ‘social butterfly’ who always appreciated the presence and friendship of others. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Shenacadie with friends and family. Bruce had a deep appreciation for his motorcycle and going riding with others. He also had a great love for his cockatiel, Junior. He had many friends but had a deep love and commitment to his family. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Bruce is survived by his brothers, James (Heather) and George Ivey, as well as sisters, Elizabeth and Corinne Ivey, aunt Peggy MacIssac, uncle Ronald Ivey, along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bruce is predeceased by his sister, Sharon Ivey, brother, Gordon Ivey and brother-in-law Gerald Pearcey.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St. in North Sydney. A funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 11 am, at Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Fabian Ihunegbo officiating.
